Michael Seibel became Reddit's first Black board member in June 2020 during the George Floyd protests, replacing co-founder Alexis Ohanian who resigned demanding a Black replacement. Seibel accepted the role as Reddit faced pressure from 650+ communities demanding action on hate speech. He previously served as finance director for Kweisi Mfume's (NAACP president) Senate campaign and has been recognized for promoting diversity in venture capital.
