Hopper laid off 30% of staff (~250 employees) in October 2023 as the Montreal-based travel company pushed for profitability. CEO Fred Lalonde said "the world has changed, money is no longer free." This was followed by another 10% cut (~60-65 employees) in November 2024 after Expedia resumed supplying hotels to Hopper, making the direct hotel team redundant.
