Clément Delangue briefed the UN Security Council on September 23, 2026, advocating for open-source AI as essential to global security. After Hugging Face defended against a July 2026 AI agent cyberattack, Delangue testified: "The biggest risk is not powerful AI, it's asymmetry of powerful AI" and "The world needs open source AI more than ever to defend itself." He called for mandatory incident disclosure standards and cautioned against fear-based narratives using "anthropomorphic framing and sci-fi imagery."
