GGV Capital

A February 2024 U.S. Congressional investigation found GGV Capital among five firms that invested $3 billion in Chinese AI and semiconductor companies that "facilitate human rights abuses" and funnel money to the Chinese Communist Party and military. GGV conducted 43 investment transactions with Chinese AI companies from 2015-2021, more than any other firm examined. The investigation prompted GGV to split its US and Asia operations, with the US entity rebranding as Notable Capital to distance from its China portfolio.

In July 2023, the U.S. House Select Committee on China announced investigation of GGV Capital's China exposure. The committee cited a study showing GGV conducted 43 investment transactions with Chinese AI companies from 2015-2021, more than any other firm examined. The February 2024 bipartisan report found five VC firms invested $3B in Chinese companies that "facilitate human rights abuses." Under congressional pressure, GGV split its US and China operations in September 2023 into "completely independent" firms, rebranding the US entity as Notable Capital in March 2024.
