Rappi

Rappi laid off 6% of its workforce in 2020 (~300 employees based on 5,000 total staff), less than a year after SoftBank invested nearly $1 billion. The cuts came as food delivery companies faced pressure to find a financially viable business model. In Brazil alone, 150 employees were let go as iFood competed for market share. The company later reached break-even for the first time in late 2023.

Couriers demanded better pay amid Colombia's highest inflation in two decades. While Rappi expressed support for Law 2466 (June 2025) requiring platforms to contribute 60% to social security, these provisions remain unimplemented as of September 2026.
